Holiday Card Workshop - Day three

Hello Friends,

I've had such a wonderful time this afternoon making this lovely card........

Over at the Holiday Card Workshop class the lovely, talented and most giggly lady, Julie Ebersole, showed a video of herself making a beautiful card using a mixed media technique that I couldn't wait to try.

Kristina (also lovely, talented and giggly) reminded us that we can use our score boards to make quick and easy backgrounds so I included a bit of that with this card too!

The card looks so much better in real life.  I took many photos of it but my photography still isn't up to much, even though I've bought a light box now (with a photographers spot light - no less - lol !).   Here is a closer photo, let me know what you think........

I am back to using supplies I've had for ages, the embossed images are some of the first Cuttlebug tiny embossing folders I ever bought for my machine, the punched snowflakes are from a Martha Stewart punch, I've had for at least 2 or 3 years and the background is a stamped Stampin' Up stamp (set -Serene Snowflakes) stamped with my Snow Cap paint dabber.  The base card is a white hammered effect card and the pool colour (Jennifer & Julie's favourite colour at the moment) is from Stampin' Up.

I finally embellished with a little extra dazzle using Stampin' Up's Dazzling Diamonds and Glossy Accents.

Holiday Card Workshop - Day two

Hello Friends,

I have been struggling to concentrate today, I've been worrying about the terrible devastation caused by the storm in America, my heart go out to all those affected.  I have also spent the day worrying about a terrible incident local to my own home which happened this morning.  A poor soul had obviously spent the night deciding to end their life and jumped in front of a train early this morning.

I have spent a few times today in quiet prayer for the two incidents, hoping for the people left behind to have strength in the coming months to cope with whatever needs to be done.

I first thought that I perhaps shouldn't be sat here making holiday cards, but as I can't actually help all those affected, I have to continue with my own life and making cards is what I enjoy and I especially like to make cards when I need to take things off my mind.

So with another super day over at Holiday Card Workshop I have made this card.......

I actually haven't followed any of the lessons today, but I did gain inspiration by a card Jennifer made with a layout just like this.

I down loaded the Christmas tree image from the Silhouette store a couple of weeks ago and hadn't used it, so I thought it would be great for this card design.  There was a little too much space left at the top so I headed back to the Silhouette store and downloaded the Mistletoe image, which included that cute bow.  I cut them out using Whisper White card stock, which I coloured with my copics.  I added a few white berries or snow (which ever - use your own imagination!) using Liquid Pearls and to highlight the Mistletoe I drew round the whole die cut with a soft drawing pencil.  I also drew with the pencil around the Christmas Tree, but wish I hadn't!

Well for now, I will get back to the news to see the latest of what is happening in America.

Holiday Card Workshop - Day one

Hello my friends,

I know, I've been a terrible blogger (AGAIN) but for now I'm back :-) !

When I don't blog, it's usually because I'm scrapbooking and I don't always want to share on my blog those pages for personal reasons.  Of course if you come to my scrapbooking crops, here in Abingdon, then you are welcome to look at my pages, you all know that!

It has taken this fab class to get me back, but at least you can be sure that I will try and be an excellent pupil and post what I make on my blog.

So today we were learning all about colouring in and about making a few cards at once.  We were shown a technique that I actually couldn't do, as I hadn't got clear stamps to do it with, but I found another quick way/short cut to making a few cards at once using my Silhouette Cameo, with the pen holder!

This is where I started..........

I made a Studio file using one box (the size to fit onto my A6 card front) and added the greeting.  I used the pen holder to hold my Stabilo pen and ran it through my Cameo with only the words highlighted to cut (well draw really!).  I then highlighted the boxes and ran it through again (this time with the blade) giving me the cuts for the individual card fronts.

I then placed three at a time on a mat in front of me, masked each worded area with some masking tape and then stamped happily away with a few different blues to co-ordinate with my sentiment.  I then inked the edges of the masked area and here is the result.....

Just to prove I made a few at a time - here is a photo of a few of them....

Anna Griffin Inspired!

Hello Friends,

Thanks to everyone who have left me lovely comments over the past couple of weeks, I kept meaning to thank you all the last couple of times I've posted, but as soon as I get on here I usually have one thing on my mind - which is to get a card pic up for you!

Also, I would like to thank and welcome all my new (and not so new) followers, it's lovely knowing that you like my projects enough that you'd want to follow my blog - I appreciate it, so thank you.

Back to the card side of this blog though!  I was watching Anna Griffin on QVC yesterday.  I really like her things but couldn't possibly bring myself to buy any more of her products knowing that the last lot of stash I bought from one of her QVC shows was still mostly unused!

So out came the most beautiful box of stamps, card blanks and papers and I set to, making a card for my lovely neighbour, Ann, as it's her birthday next weekend.

I did a little surfing  for a sketch and found this lovely layout from Mojo Monday..

ColourQ Challenge #157

Hello Friends,

After the mad rush of last week trying to keep up the with On-line class I was doing and all the preparations for my monthly crop, I've had a bit of a rest this week - from crafting that is!  I've done plenty of house work and paper work though ;) !!!

Yesterday I was back to catching up with my emails and this ColourQ Challenge took my eye....




I love pink and gray together so thought I'd make a card and enter the challenge.  Here is my card..........

I used one of my old Penny Black stamps, along with some of my old Stampin' Up stash!

I'm really pleased with how it turned out, even though the design is simple, I think the colours work so well together that it doesn't matter about how simple the design is.
